Project: Replication of an Heirloom Christening Dress
The picture portrays a replication of a 90 year old christening dress which I repaired for the family and then reproduced, so it could be passed down to many more generations to come.
The slip has an inscription of the family history and history of the original dress on it:
This christening gown is a replica of the gown made for Evelyn Nelson Sullivan Baptized January,1913 in Brooklyn, New York. The original gown was sewn by her Aunt, Eva A. Dodge. God bless and protect all the babies who wear it. October, 2008Dear Pat, My whole family is just thrilled with the beautiful replica of our Mother's Christening Gown that you sewed! The details are so exact - we couldn't believe it. The embroidered paragraph detailing the gown's history is very precious to us. Thank you for all your effort. Sincerely, Eve C.
Pat's Note: This project was truly a labor of love, and one I will always remember. It was a great honor to be asked to create this one-of-a-kind gown. If your family has an heirloom item that you would like recreated, please let me know!
